Crowdfunding is the funding a project or venture by raising money from a large number of people who each contribute a relatively small amount, typically via the internet.

Setting up a Crowdfunding Campaign on GalaBid can be completed in a short amount of time, especially if you already have a Stripe account. However, if you don’t, fear not, setting up a Stripe account can be done from within the GalaBid dashboard.  Follow the steps below or view this help video. You don't. Individuals and charities can set up a Crowdfunding campaign on GalaBid. 

It doesn't. You can raise money for any charity or any project so long as you are not breaking any local laws or breeching GalaBid's terms of use.  You cannot use GalaBid to crowdfund for firearms, illegal drugs and paraphernalia, adult content and sexual services or Fox Hunts. GalaBid reserves the right to remove any crowdfunding campaigns that are illegal or or in breach of GalaBid's terms of use. 

The default setting is participants are required to pay at the point of clicking the donate button. This can be changed so that the donation is added to the participant's invoice and payment can be requested at a later time. This is typically the close time of the silent auction in the campaign.  To change the default setting edit the donation item in the Items section and switch Pay Now off.

The campaign administrator collects the funds via Stripe and makes the tranfer/donation to the charity.  Connecting an existing Stripe account or creating a new one is part the Crowdfunding campaign set up on GalaBid. And, as part of the Stripe account set up a bank account is connected. This is where the funds collected by the campaign will be sent.  See stripe.com for information and the latest pricing.

There are two options. 1) Include the amount on a specific donation item Register to the campaign as a Participant and make the donation. The campaign url is visible in the left of top bar, next to the QR code in the Campaign's Dashboard.  If Pay Now is activated for the donation item it can switiched off in the Donation items settings for a short amount of time while the process is being completed.

The proceeds are distributed to the campaign administrator's bank account by Stripe. The first payout can take up to 7 days. The frequency of subsequent payouts can be edited from within the Stripe dashboard. A crowdfunding campaign can be set up in minutes.  Complete a short form at this link then from within your crowdfunding campaign dashboard add your crowdfunding item.  Within the item you will be able to add images and information about the project you crowdfunding for. Next go to Setup > Payments and Connect a Stripe account.  Share your campaign link with your potential supporters and watch the fund come in on the campaign summary page.

There is no time restriction on campaign length. Keep your campaign open as long as you need it to hit your target. 

This depends on the pricing option selected when setting up the campaign. Option 1 - Voluntary Contributions GalaBid asks your campaign supporters for a contribution towards GalaBid's costs. This contribution is visible to supporters when making a payment to your campaign. Supporters can opt out and there is no financial penalty.  With this option fee to pay is the Stripe transaction fee. See stripe.com for the latest fees in your region.

This is determined by the availability of our payment processor, Stripe.  Check this page on Stripe for a list of countries where Stripe is available.  If Stripe is available in your country and local laws allow you can use GalaBid for your crowdfunding project. 

1) Share your campaign link with supporters via social media or email etc.  2) Supporters then enter a donation amount and register on the GalaBid platform by entering and verifying their email address.  3) Supporters pay for their donation securely via credit or debit card or Apple Pay.  4) Once the payment is processed they can leave a message of support. 

Yes. When setting up your crowdfunding campaign on GalaBid you can request or mandate that supporters pay a specified percentage or fixed amount (or both) when checking out. This fee can be used to cover campaign costs for example, Stripe fees or GalaBid's software fee. 

Crowdfunding is often used by individuals to raise money to launch a new business, to seek assistance following a disaster or to fund a creative pursuit or project.  Crowdfunding can by used by businesses and and organisations such as charities to raise money for a variey of business start ups or any project.  Each crowdfunding platform has its own list of eligible and ineligible projects. It is also imperative to make yourself aware of applicable laws in your state or country.

Crowdfunding by GalaBid is powered by Stripe.  Stripe is a certified PCI Service Provider Level 1. This is the most stringent level of certification available in the payments industry. There are no financial implications if the target is not reached. Your campaign will also continue to collect funds after any target set has been reached.  All funds raised are paid out by Stripe to the associated bank account. Payout frequency can be edited from within your Stripe account.

Campaign adminstrators typically run their campaigns for between one and three months. If you require your campaign to be live for longer than 12 months please contact us on helpdesk@galabid.com

Yes they can. They can can set up the campaign and connect/set up their own Stripe account and transfer the funds to you via any means (outside of GalaBid).  Alternatively they can set up a campaign, invite you as an addional administrator and you can connect your Stripe account to the campaign. The bank account associated with the Stripe account will be the account to receive the campaign's funds. 

Yes you can set an end date to create urgnency. Once you add an end time in the dashboard the countdown timer will be visible to supporters on the campaign link. 

Most campaign administrators leave their campaign online to refer back to comments made and details of donations made. If you would like your campaign to be deleted please email helpdesk@galabid.com.
